AEN Experimental Project

In 2002, universities and enterprises in Japan and universities in five other Asian countries collaborated together in conducting six experimental projects where e-Learning materials were distributed.

There were two main objectives for these projects. The first objective was to develop human resources to promote information technologies in Asian countries though e-Learning. The scope was not limited in the area of informational education, such as a curriculum in preparing for the Information Technology Engineer Examination, which is commonly said to be effective. Rather, it covered wide-ranging fields of education, such as policy, law, business, and economics, as well as fields of information technology in higher education.

The second objective was to intensify the awareness of standards among the Asian countries, to prompt their participation in developing and improving the standards, and to make a foothold to promote standardization in Asian countries.

To achieve these goals, experimental projects on materials and systems based on the international standard, SCORM, were conducted with Asian countries in its early stage of e-Learning. To promote the standardization of e-Learning, international collaboration on material development and mutual recognition of credits are expected in the future. To achieve the above two objectives, each project was conducted.
